North Waterfront
North Waterfront is a bustling, energetic neighborhood with an incredibly rich Gold Rush history. Home to Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, cable cars, street entertainment, the Aquatic Park and Fort Mason, this area is famous for its tourists as well as its sea lions. Fisherman’s Wharf is still a working wharf, and thousands of tons of fish and shellfish are processed annually. Family entertainment abounds with quirky museums, boat tours and the USS Pampanito at Pier 45. The highly-acclaimed Dolphin Club and South Rowing Club, both located on Jefferson Street, offer considerably more than swimming and rowing activities, such as handball, triathlons and social gatherings and play host to the New Year’s Polar Bear Swim and the Annual Alcatraz Invitational Swim – definitely not for the faint of heart. Upscale apartments and condos comprise most of the residential offerings here in this classic niche of San Francisco.
